Elder's Health Issues
As aginst general health issues, elders are more susceptible for more illness and conditions because og ageing. The age related problems are Alzheimer's Disease, Arthritis, Balance Problems, Breast Cancer, Cataract, Colorectal Cancer, COPD,Depression ,Diabetes, Diabetic Retinopathy,Glaucoma, Hearing Loss, Heart Attack, Heart Failure, High Blood Pressure, Lung Cancer, Macular Degeneration, Osteoporosis, Prostate Cancer,Sleeping problems or insomnia, falling and related injuries.
Hip fractures: A hip fracture is a break in the bones of your hip (near the top of your leg). It can happen at any age, although it is more common is people 65 and older. As you get older, the inside of your bones becomes porous from a loss of calcium.
Restless Legs Syndrome: Restless legs syndrome (RLS) is a disorder of sensation and movements that affects both men and women. It can occur at any age, including during childhood, but often worsens with age and becomes a problem for older adults. RLS affects the quality of sleep, which in turn can interfere with daytime activities. Some cases of RLS are related to other conditions, such as pregnancy, iron-deficiency anemia or kidney failure
Deep Vein Thrombosis: Deep vein thrombosis - DVT is a blood clot in a vein deep inside your body. These clots usually occur in your leg veins.
Arthritis: Arthritis means inflammation of the joints. It causes pain and usually also limits movement of the joints that are affected. There are many kinds of arthritis.
Osteoporosis: n osteoporosis, the inside of the bones becomes porous from a loss of calcium (see the picture below). This is called losing bone mass. Over time, this weakens the bones and makes them more likely to break.
Diabetes: Diabetes is a disease that occurs when a person's body doesn't make enough insulin or can't use insulin properly. There are two types of diabetes. Type 1 occurs when the body doesn't produce any insulin. People with type 2 diabetes either don't produce enough insulin or their cells ignore the insulin. Nearly 95% of people with diabetes have type 2.
Cancer: Cancer: Abnormal cells with uncontrolled cell growth.
Tumor: Overgrowth of tissue.
Biopsy: Removal and exam of a tissue sample taken from a living body. This procedure helps determine if the tissue is cancerous.
Carcinogen: A cancer-causing substance.
Malignancy: A tendency to worsen to a more serious illness or death. Commonly used to describe cancer.
Benign: A nonlife-threatening condition. Not malignant. Not cancerous
Urinary Incontinence: Urinary incontinence means that you can't always control when you urinate. As a result, you wet your clothes. This can be embarrassing, but it can be treated.
Apart from people caring their parents many non profit organizations are also taking care of the elderly.
